To my Sis…

Hey, we have got too cozy.
Haven’t we?
For your shrills no longer feels like an imposter
in my musical land.
Nor do your punches disturbs me from my daily plans,
Mind you; They do Hurt!
(And, of course, nobody’s asking who provoked you.)
Your ‘artificial’ giggles, though sometimes irritating,
forces me to laugh along,
dragging me off the roller coaster,
which, anyways, would have kicked me off soon.
Almost 19 years have passed
since we first got to know each other.
You were a skinny girl,
and so was I.
You were arrogant, and I was so modest.
Ask Mom if you doubt,
which you shouldn’t
for how else do you reckon
we’ve shared our room for so long!
You have always been
eager to grab things that excited you.
And did I tell you how distantly fascinated
I was and am by you!
Can’t forget those dreadful afternoons
Running after you,
Doing things to impress you,
For I had a pending chart to finish
and an English play to choreograph!
And how else do you think
I escaped those ‘dreadful’ times,
Had it not been you ready to do it for me.
But of course, we all know
how tempted you always were
by cool homework that I had for you.
But more was the inner devil in you
Seeing me begging the whole day to you!
Can’t forget walking those starry nights with you,
Sometimes me, other times you
Giving each other some cool pep talks to fool.
I’ve learned a lot from you,
though can’t remember what they exactly were!
Soon it will be your birthday,
And undoubtedly, it’s my gift to you.
Thought of making a card,
but can’t foster any creativity
owing greatly to ‘beautiful’ painting
covering all the surrounding walls.
This is a poem,
(Or at least that’s what I think it is),
which I guess we could laugh along
reading later in life.
Remembering how we grew up,
Laughed and stared at the blank night sky,
All together and all merrily.
Have got a lot more to say,
but let’s not flow in this flood of emotions
After all, I need places to hide in
when you’ll read it out aloud.
So I wish from the bottom of
my heart —
Happy birthday to you,
May your world be filled with
lots and lots of happiness, knowledge, creativity, and peace!
